Midsummer is upon us and with it that wonderful sense of aliveness that comes with the long days and warm evenings suffused with golden light. After our cold, wet spring everything seems particularly lush as nature rushes to catch up.
Speaking of catching up, I am somewhat behind myself and the post on herbs for breastfeeding that I promised is still half written and awaiting my attention, though I promise to finish it soon!
The little one and I have been enjoying walks to the woodland where his still maturing sight is captivated by the interplay of light and shadow in the sun dappled glades and my own gaze is also delighted by the sun through beech leaves and bracken. I love how it looks so different through the long silvery fingers of willow and the broad green hands of sycamore, the young freshness of hawthorn and the dark majesty of yew.
Whether it be summer, winter or season-less where you are. I wish you many blessings on this solstice.
All the sights I love and treasure also, and with those visions I sense the scent too. Soft gentle magic. Thanks be for all the beauty.

Such a magic to dappled light. I can just see the wonder on the little one’s face as he gazes up into the leaves! It was delightful that after so many days of rain, the sun came out for the solstice. It made nature really feel as though she was rejoicing!

I can almost see fairies in your beautiful photos.
Thank you for reminding me of those precious, hold-your-breath moments of watching your baby as he looks at the world for the first time. Nothing else is so important as being with him for these first fleeting months.
I wish you a happy and blessed midsummer!

Thank you db. That little bit of woodland always seems very fairy like to me. They really are fleeting months aren’t they, so magical and full of change.

Trees are some of my favorite companions so I love these photos. I also think that the addition of your son is going to bring a lot to this blog. Your comment about his still developing sight and being captivated by what he sees is a perfect example of what I mean. I can already picture photos of chubby fingers holding herbs.
